Advice From a Friend

I am always so grateful when my readers take the time to comment on my posts and share their experiences. After all, that is what blogging is all about …. conversation (the 2-way kind). I just had to share this comment that I received recently from a friend because she was so kind to offer words of praise, encouragement and most importantly, hope! Here’s what she had to say …..

“Wow Casey, I’m glad pcc_header_40you had such a meaningful and helpful experience with this. I’ve witnessed the incredible amount of healing you’ve done and how you’ve overcome so much. I admire how you are helping others this way.

My kids were helped by 2 resources you mentioned, and I can’t say enough about how much they helped my kids heal from the trauma they experienced.  My daughter worked with the child advocate at the Prudence Crandall Center, and this was a remarkably helpful experience for her–she was someone safe for her to verbalize what she’d been exposed to, and she received validation and practical help.

My son worked with a trauma counselor at the National Center for Children Exposed to Violence, where he received wonderful therapy and began his healing.  I’m so thankful for both of those agencies!  They also helped give me hope!

cats missionAlso remarkably helpful were the “CATS” (Child Abuse Treatment Services) program at the Klingberg  Family Center in New Britain and the wonderful trauma therapists at the Klingberg Outpatient center in downtown New Britain.  I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of these services to anyone seeking healing/treatment for their children who’ve been exposed to domestic violence.   THERE IS HOPE AND HEALING!”

Please feel free to share your experiences too! Only by coming together will there ever be hope for making a difference.
